On to today's topic...

Five Item Friday:  Summertime Tasties
My good friend Cory (aka "Migs") is always asking me to bring back Five Item Friday, so in honor of his finishing law school this week, I am bringing it back!  Congrats Migs!

In this week's edition of Five Item Friday, I'll be giving you the five tasty treats I'm looking forward to trying out this summer.  (There's a good chance Migs will reap the benefits of this post, since he'll be studying for the Bar exam and will thus be in need of care packages.)

And here we go...(p.s. all photos are courtesy of the people who own the various websites I've hyperlinked)

#1:  We all know I love coffee, so of course I'm SUPER excited to try out this iced coffee {"Magical Coffee," if you will} that, conveniently, requires very little effort to make.

#2:  What could possibly be better than a fudgecicle on a burning hot Houston summer day?  Why, how about we make it out of Nutella?!?!  This little beauty will be a lovely treat to have when it's sweltering otuside.

#3:  I absolutely LOVE having company come visit.  And summertime is a popular time for travel. {hint, hint...to my friends and family...cough, cough}  One of my favorite parts about having company come stay with us is making breakfast in the morning for them.  These precious little skewers are fashionable and simple!

#4:  Another necessity in Houston in the summertime is LOTS of cold beverages.  This beautiful strawberry vanilla lemonade would be just perfect to take on a picnic.  {And especially precious in bottles just like the ones in the photo, which you can find at Ikea.}

#5:  Last, but not least, one thing that seems to happen a lot in the summertime is potlucks.  Mix up your normal strawberry sheet cake but bringing one of these bad boys {Peach Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake} to your next potluck.  My guess is that you'll start getting invited to a lot more events.

What are some of your favorite summertime treats?

  2. We are looking forward to a summer filled with delicious homemade snow cones since the recent birthday girl got this excellent little machine (http://nostalgiaelectrics.com/default.asp?c=7&p=387) as a gift. We are even going to make our own homemade syrup from this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/snow-cone-syrup-ii/. Feel free to join us!
